Beginning to develop a relationship, we need to understand that our dealings with others and us also is a interactive relationship. We enter the relationship but yet we do not fully understand “what is a healthy relationship”? The beginning of this development is usually very exciting whilst also gratifying.

Being healthy in our encounters with each other takes hard work, a mind set of either working for the benefit of all involved or doing that which is necessary so that the relationship can move to greater and more mutual benefits.

Healthy ways of interacting, communicating and compromise are the foundation of all healthy relations. If we begin with these healthy aspects when starting that relationship, whether it be romantic, business or just friends. We will find that we will be able to relate to each other much better and the relationship will be that much more gratifying.

Being respectful and appreciate the other person, without compromise yourself. Be attentive to what the other person is saying, learn to be communicate while not being judgmental. Be considerate of the other persons feelings. Thankfulness for their assistance will bond and be a strong part of any relationship. Keep yourself focused on good aspects of the other person involved and stay away from bringing to light all their mistakes and shortcomings.

Ask questions as to what the other persons interests are, share these experiences and enjoy the time spent together. Try something new it might be enjoyable and you might find a new avenue of your own life that is pleasing.

If you make a honest mistake, apologize. It’s not that difficult to say that you are sorry when you actually mean it. This also let’s the other know that you are sincere. Overcoming obstacles must be done as soon as possible. Healing any issue in the relationship quickly so that trust can be re-established is paramount. Take responsibility for your words or actions this will build trust quickly again.

Keep communicating, don’t take the other person for granted. If communication ceases the relationship will fail. Take the time to be empathetic to your partner, there could be a hidden issue that you never knew about. Many of us have had letdowns in past relationships that were never healed correctly. Just be understanding but not overbearing, let them know that you are there for them. Most times the other person will let down their defenses and let you in an together the issue can be overcome.

The most pure form of a healthy relationship is the one that you have with yourself. It is the easiest because it’s just you, you know yourself and you know your deficiencies. Let go of all those things you might have heard from family and friends. I know when I was young I heard “you’ll never be anything” from those that should be supportive. You might need to go through this process of loving yourself to heal your personal relationship.

Getting your personal healthy relationship should be the first goal that you have. There is not one person on the face of this planet that will be all things, that’s the perfectionist attitude and it is self defeating. Focus on what makes you happy and do those activities.

Moreover keep in mind that you are deserving of that healthy relationship, we all are. There will be instances when you need that “alone time”, take that time to be good to yourself. You will be happier and healthier than if you didn’t take the time for yourself.

Remembering these few facts about what is a healthy relationship can be life altering for you. Many issues that we face each and every day will simply vanish. This is mostly from changes in your viewpoint and life-style and the benefits that you receive will be noticeable.
